What is Arts Infusion?
Arts infusion is a creative process in which arts concepts are connected to other academic subjects to develop a deeper understanding. Arts infusion is not the use of art projects to support the grade level curriculum. Students make meaningful connection while teachers provide the opportunities. As such, students become agents of their own learning.
What does Arts Infusion look like?
Arts infusion does not 'look' a specific way. The wonderful thing about Arts infusion is that it adapts and scaffolds to meet every student at every level. One student may connect their math to sequences in dance, while another student may connect those same sequences in dance to how you write a persuasive essay. At Stadium Drive Elementary School of the Arts, teachers are aware of other curriculum that is being taught elsewhere in the building which helps teachers to create opportunities where students make connections on their own. Class discussions, questions, and thinking routines are designed to help students think outside the box and dig deeper. To further help students make these learning leaps, the building has a set of Art Infusion words that are used in each room to further promote how things connect.

How do we share student connections?
While walking our halls be sure to notice our ever changing Arts Infusion board. This board is used to showcase and spot light the various ways common learning concepts such as, cause and effect, patterning, sequencing, mood, perspective, etc. are used across our buildings different curriculum. One of the ways Stadium Drive is so unique is the conscious opportunity students are given to connect these concepts in multiple settings. Check out our connections just outside room 109. (In the drop down menu above you can view old boards and synopses of those boards.) The Arts Infusion Committee also shares articles and pictures in the school newsletter, The Stadium Drive Star.
